Being happily together for nearly 20 years, and happily married for 10 of those years, we would like to think we are doing something right.
We've found that having a hobby that we can share and do together accounts for one part of our close bond. We've both made a commitment to jiu-jitsu and the lifestyle, and thus we are on the same page when it comes to training schedules, our fitness, and our healthy eating habits.
We've chosen to share this journey of learning self-defense and get healthier together.
Training together in jiu-jitsu has helped our relationship in several ways:
1. Training in BJJ teaches you to stay calm and optimistic, and therefore teaches you to conquer life's challenges together.
2. Training in BJJ helps you live a happy and stress free life. The physical aspect of BJJ releases endorphins in your brain, which increases your level of happiness and reduces your stress levels.
3. You and your partner will always have something to do. You will learn each others strengths and weaknesses, which leads to support of one another both on and off the mat.
