About our Prosper Location

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu near North Frisco

North Prosper opened in February of 2019 to promote a safe environment where children are required to grow and push themselves to their fullest capacity. Teaching Jiu-Jitsu to children not only raises confidence in their ability to defend themselves, but also teaches them how to control their own body, as well as another individual's, while keeping them both safe.

Rockstar Martial Arts North Prosper is a premier Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy dedicated to empowering families, building community, and developing confident martial artists of all ages. Both locations provide world-class training in a supportive, family-focused environment, offering beginner and advanced programs for kids, teens, and adults.

In 2024, another milestone arrived: the chance to take ownership of the established Rockstar Martial Arts North Prosper location. With the continued expertise of the amazing Coach Lawson, the North Prosper academy carries on its strong tradition while aligning with the values and vision that Coach Somalia brings to all Rockstar programs.

Today, North Prosper stands as a trusted training center where students learn real Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, build confidence, develop resilience, and become part of a supportive community that celebrates growth at every level.

Head Coach Lawson

Born in Edwardsville, IL on March 8, 2002, Lawson Brines began his martial arts journey after moving to Oxford, MS at age 9. Inspired by his favorite childhood show Dragon Ball Z, he asked his parents to sign him up for karate—and the rest is history.

After four dedicated years and reaching the cusp of earning his black belt, Lawson sought to grow even further. At 13, he began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while continuing karate. Once he achieved his karate black belt, Lawson committed fully to BJJ. He trained under black belts Anthony Mitchel and Michael LaBorde—long-time Soul Fighters affiliates—before proudly representing RockStar and Soul Fighters Texas.

Outside the gym, Lawson serves as an infantryman in the U.S. Army National Guard, where he has been committed to service since 2020. His passion for martial arts, discipline, and helping others fuels both his coaching style and his competitive drive, making him an invaluable part of our team.
